Indoor Training Schedule

North County Aikikai Modified Indoor Training Schedule:

Regular one-hour classes will be held on the following days:
  • Wednesdays 6:15-7:15pm
  • Fridays 6:15-7:15pm
  • Saturday mornings 10:15-11:15am

The focus will be on conditioning and weapons. Everyone is required to wear a mask, have their temperature taken as they enter the dojo, and to sign in. Please bring your own water! Also, if you do not have your own weapons, select a bokken and jyo from the racks and keep them for your own use for the time being. This will minimize the number of hands using them. These classes are for teenagers and adults.

As you know we are all, in our own way, doing the best we can to avoid getting and spreading COVID-19. The disease has proven most challenging, and we have to acknowledge that it is possible that one or more of us might catch it. If, for some unfortunate reason, you do contract COVID-19 and have been training at the dojo, we would greatly appreciate it if you would let us know so that we may take the appropriate measures in accordance with your privacy and the wellbeing of your fellow aikidoka. Please also note that the sign-in sheet at the dojo will include an acknowledgement of general guidelines around training under the current circumstances and a release of liability.

Requirements before you come to the dojo:

Do not come to the dojo if you or any member of your family have the following symptoms:
  • Fever or chills
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • Fatigue
  • Muscle or body aches
  • Headache
  • New loss of taste or smell
  • Sore throat
  • Congestion or runny nose
  • Nausea or vomiting

Please come to the dojo dressed in your Gi, we need to avoid using the dressing rooms so we can maintain the social distancing requirements. For those of you who wear a hakama you can put it on when you arrive at the dojo in the training area. We all must wear face covering while in the dojo.

Upon arrival we use the following steps:
  1. We will sign in and record your temperature upon arrival. If your temperature exceeds 100 degrees Fahrenheit (F) we will retake the temperature. If it exceeds 100 degrees (F) a second time we will ask you not to train that day.
  2. After signing in each of us will wash our hands with soap and water or hand sanitizer.
  3. We will give the mats a good cleaning before we begin our class.
During class:
  1. We will maintain social distancing at all times (not less than 6 feet).
  2. We will keep the all doors open and move the fans so the air is constantly blowing out through the garage doors.
After class:
1. We will clean the mats, covered pole, and all hard surfaces with which we make contact.
