Dojo News for October

The Women’s Aikido Camp was energizing and inspirational.  45 women of all ranks, from different organizations came together to share their dojo experiences and teaching.  Please start thinking ahead to plan for next year if you are interested.

Looking Ahead:
  • I will be in Providence, RI, teaching at Rhode Island Aikikai – Eastside, this coming holiday weekend.  It will be a three day weekend and our dojo will close on Monday for Columbus Day.  However, as always, if there is interest in a class or free practice time, please let Sara or Tim know in good time.
  • Aikido Daiwa will be holding its seminar with Roo Heins Sensei the weekend of October 26-28.  This will be a fundraiser for Aria Cheyenne Ramirez to help with her medical bills. She is the daughter of a member of our Aikido community.  If you can’t make the seminar, donations can be made at www.gofundme.com/62ka81k.  Roo will hold a tea ceremony on the Saturday from 12:00 pm-12:45 pm.  However, she will also be conducting a ceremony for us at our dojo on the Thursday evening before the seminar, October 25.  We will be asking for a donation and all proceeds will be going to Aria. This is an art that Roo studied in Japan for many years.  She has very generously offered to share her practice with us.  See flyer attached.
  • Juba Nour will again be at San Diego Aikikai for a seminar in December.  Details to follow soon.
  • Testing for our Juniors will be held on Tuesday, October 16.  And an adult test will be held during the first class on Wednesday, October 17.
