Dojo News for September

August has been hot and humid – also slow with holidays and the general malaise that this kind of weather brings.

Thank you RC for organizing and leading the Self Defense Course.  It was professionally presented and with much to be seen that related to our aikido training.  This course served as a practice run for our members and we look forward to setting up another one at the beginning of January 2019 to draw in more people.

Not much to report at the moment but once again, please make sure you stay hydrated.  If you need to take a drink during class, ask Sensei, make a seated bow at the edge of the mat, take your drink and return and bow again to return to practice.

Looking Ahead:
  • Monday, September 3 is Labor Day and the dojo will be closed.  Please let our senior members know if you are interested in a free practice.
  • September 13-16, the Women’s Aikido Camp will be held in Santa Fe, NM.
  • Daiwa will be holding a seminar with Roo Heins Sensei in the Fall.  Date still to be announced. Following the seminar, Roo has kindly offered to come down to our dojo to hold a tea ceremony, Chado.  This is an art that she studied in Japan for many years.  I feel honored that she would like to do this for us.
  • Juba Nour will again be at San Diego Aikikai for a seminar in December.
  • Testing for our Juniors will be held on Tuesday, October 16.  And an adult test will be held during the first class on Wednesday, October 17.

Enjoy the three day holiday!
