Dojo News for July

The entrance renovation was done in time for the seminar.  Congratulations and thanks to all who contributed.  There are still some small areas to cleanup but overall the impression as we enter the dojo is more open and inviting.  I’m also enjoying more breathing space in my office/lounge!

Once again, the Birankai Aikido News has announced that the Chiba Sensei Biography, ‘The Life-Giving Sword’, long in the making, is in the final stages of publication, and the hard bound version should be ready at Summer Camp. Details of the book are at the dojo.

The seminar with Neilu Naini Sensei went very smoothly except for the plumbing emergency that affected both bathrooms! This was dealt with in due Aikido fashion, without panic, simply and efficiently!  I particularly enjoyed Naini Sensei’s emphasis on hand work and balance through footwork.  Foundation work that we can never stop working on!

Looking Ahead:

  • Because of the number of our students attending Summer Camp this year, we will be closing the dojo for adult classes from Thursday, July 19 through Thursday, July 26.  We are looking into keeping the children’ program going.  If any of you are holding back for financial reasons (or any others), please come and see me.  Please watch the bulletin board at the dojo for further announcements.
  • The doors are open for registration for the Women’s Aikido Camp, Santa Fe, NM, September 13-16.  Contact: www.aikidoofkohala.org
